Privacy Policy

PeekIG is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Instagram or Meta Platforms, Inc. "Instagram" is a trademark of Meta Platforms, Inc.

1. Overview

PeekIG ("we", "us") operates peekig.com (the "Service"), a tool to view publicly available Instagram content. This policy explains, in plain words, what data is processed when you use the Service, by whom, and what you can do about it. You don't need an account to use PeekIG.

2. What we do NOT collect

  • No account, registration or password — and we never ask for your Instagram login.
  • We don't sell your personal data.
  • We don't send the usernames you search for to analytics, except names of well-known public figures (see section 4).
  • Private Instagram accounts are never accessed.

3. Data stored on your own device

To make the site work, your browser keeps a few things locally (localStorage / sessionStorage). They stay on your device and are not sent to us:

  • Your recent searches (up to 6), so you can reopen them with one tap. Use “Clear” next to them to delete them.
  • A counter of free searches and ad unlocks, used for the free-search limit.
  • Small preferences such as which pop-ups you already closed.

You can delete all of this at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.

4. Analytics (Google Analytics 4)

We use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google, to understand how the Service is used and to improve it. It records pages viewed, how you arrived (for example from a search engine), approximate country, device and browser type, and anonymous actions such as “searched a profile”, “opened the stories tab”, “downloaded a file” or “clicked Pro”. When you search, only the usernames of well-known public figures from our own list are recorded; any other username is recorded simply as “(other)”. Google may set cookies for this purpose. You can block it with your browser's privacy settings or the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. See Google's Privacy Policy.

5. Advertising

PeekIG is free because it shows ads. Our advertising partners are:

  • Adsterra — banner ads and the optional “watch an ad to unlock more searches” link. Adsterra privacy policy.
  • Monetag — on-page and new-tab ads, and optional browser push notifications. Monetag privacy policy.

These partners may use cookies, device identifiers, your IP address and browser information to show and measure ads and to prevent fraud. They act under their own privacy policies. Our ads load only after you have started using the Service (for example after your first search), not as soon as you arrive.

6. Push notifications

Our advertising partner Monetag may ask your browser for permission to send notifications. This only happens if you click Allow in your browser's own prompt — nothing is sent otherwise. If you allow it, you may receive advertising notifications even when PeekIG is closed. A small file on our site (/sw.js, a “service worker”) is used to deliver them.

To stop them at any time: open your browser's site settings for peekig.com and set Notifications to Block (Chrome/Android: tap the lock icon next to the address → Permissions → Notifications; Safari/iPhone: Settings → Notifications). You can also clear the site's data to remove the service worker.

7. Feedback and reports

If you use “Report a problem / ideas”, we store your message, the type you chose, the page you were on, your browser type, your approximate country and — only if you write it — your email address. We use this solely to fix problems and improve the Service and to reply if you asked us to. Messages are deleted automatically after 180 days.

8. Server logs and hosting

The Service runs on Cloudflare. Like any website, requests pass through Cloudflare's network, which processes technical data such as IP address, browser and time of the request to deliver the site and protect it against abuse. To keep the Service fast and affordable, public Instagram profile data that is displayed is cached temporarily on our servers (from 15 minutes up to 24 hours) and then deleted automatically. We also use your approximate region (from Cloudflare) to show prices in euros or US dollars; it is not stored.

9. Public Instagram content

PeekIG retrieves content that account owners have made public on Instagram. We do not control Instagram's data practices; that content is also subject to Instagram's Privacy Policy. If you are the owner of a public account and want it excluded from PeekIG, write to us and we will block it.

10. Legal bases (GDPR)

  • Operating and securing the Service, temporary caching and handling your feedback: our legitimate interest in providing a working, safe service.
  • Analytics and advertising cookies: legitimate interest and/or your consent where required; you can refuse or withdraw it through your browser settings.
  • Push notifications: your consent, given in your browser's prompt and revocable at any time (section 6).

11. Your rights (EU/EEA and UK)

You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability. Because we hold almost no data that identifies you, most requests concern feedback messages or ad/analytics data held by the partners above (contact them through their policies). You can also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority — in Spain, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD). Contact us at hello@peekig.com.

12. Your rights (California)

California residents may request to know and delete personal information we hold. We do not sell personal information for money. Ads shown by our partners may involve sharing of device data for advertising; you can limit this through your browser's privacy settings or by blocking third-party cookies. Contact hello@peekig.com.

13. Children

The Service is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly process their personal data. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

14. International transfers

Google, Cloudflare and our advertising partners may process data outside the European Economic Area. They rely on safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

15. Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our practices change and adjust the date at the top.
